Hello hello hello! I am in need of updating my blog roll you see on the side bar over there. I am going to remove blogs which are no longer active (where did you go?), update links to those that have moved (oh there you are!), & adding yours in if you would like me to do so (nice to meet you!). Thanks for your assistance!

This is becoming a small-ish painting. It currently looks more like this:
One of my friends back home was attempting to rush paint some matryoshka doll artwork for me because she’s awesome, but wasn’t able to finish before I actually visited. Anyway, I was kind of enamored with her elaborate designs & was like, ” I wanna try!”
But of course, my drawing style differs greatly from this friend of mine so I kind of put the want aside for a while thinking it would be far too complicated & time consuming & something I would botch up. Then there was one day when I was doodling pictures of penguins in my journal which of course morphed into ugly birds. & Then there were many ugly birds of various sizes & you can see how things went from there! Anyway, this one has been so fun to work on that I’ve been working quite slowly. I almost never want it to be finished!

August 3?!?! I’m kind of disappointed in myself right now, I think that’s the longest I’ve abandoned this little project! It’s been a bit hard for me to get much done in the way of crafting things this summer which is also honestly really disappointing. I’ve been in a bit of a mood in general because I have all these ideas of things, but no time to see them through! Last summer I had all the joys of being unemployed & having parents who didn’t mind my living in their house & eating their foods for the low low cost of $0! This summer I am kind of freaking out about being really close to being done with school forever, I have a job, I just finished an internship, and it looks like I’m starting my next one a bit sooner than I thought! Another huge difference is that last summer I had just wrapped up a bunch of art classes that really had my brain in that kind of mode. I really miss working in a studio a lot & getting to chat “art” type stuff with other people.
I absolutely love the work I’ve done during my internship & even though that plus my actual job really took up a lot of the past ten weeks of my life, I feel great about it! I certainly feel more confident in pursuing the career I’ve chosen. It did kind of leave me in a state where upon returning home, all I really wanted to do was this:
But hey, it was still really rewarding! I am really nervous & excited about being almost done with school. Assuming I don’t blow the portfolio thing, I’ll be done next June. Forever! It’s kind of scary since I’ve been in school nonstop since kindergarten through grad school. How do I not be a student? How do I accept a normal calendar year instead of an academic calendar? I have no clue! It’s also incredibly exciting! I am finding myself again in the position where I have no idea what I’ll be doing or where I’ll be a year from now. The end of my education means a whole bunch of possibilities are open!
Anyway, I’m trying not to beat myself up over being slow at finishing up my projects. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to post as frequently here as I did in the past, but there will be some stuff coming soon!

Hi! My apartment building is run by people who are maybe a little less than what I would call competent at their jobs. I got a call on Wednesday basically saying, “Oh you know that room transfer you asked for months ago? Well if you still want it, you need to come pick up the other key on Friday (not before) & give us back your keys on Monday”.
So I unexpectedly had to scoop up all the worldly possessions I had brought to & acquired in Los Angeles & move them to the next building over. Since I had almost no time to prep for this (I have two jobs!), I basically ended up filling every bag I had with stuff, taking it downstairs, walking over, taking it upstairs, emptying, taking bags downstairs, taking bags upstairs, filling, on repeat until there was nothing left to move.
So I’ve been a bit busy (& sore!) & not really the most productive in the realm of crafts the past few days. I am working on sewing something, or salvaging something that I started sewing & possibly ruined, so hopefully I’ll have a proper update soon!

I intended this to be the internet record of crafts I have completed, but the wannabe librarian in me cannot help being interested in what people are looking for when they end up here. Apparently, a popular search lately has been, “crochet on telephone poles”. Here are some links to what you are probably looking for!
Anyway, I think this type of art is really clever! It has certainly caught my interest over the past year or so & while I’m not sure if I am quite so daring to do something I am “not allowed to”, this is exactly the kind of minor rule breaking I’m especially fond of. & I did move to a city where 98% of what I ever do goes unnoticed . . .
Next we have, “ugly sewing projects”. I’m not going to pretend everything I sew comes out looking fantastic so feel free to mock my less successful attempts. I could always show you the disasters that were my very first tries at sewing clothing! Or go to Regretsy.
Things to cover that I will get to later:
- “monster doodles, long & skinny” –> you got it, internet user! If there is one thing I like doing, it’s doodling
- “ugly bird birthday cake”, this might have to wait until someone I know ages or it will have to be a drawing, I will do my best!
Honestly though, the top searches are some variation of this URL & my name & that’s pretty awesome. Thanks for intending to be here if you were & if you weren’t, I hope I can point you in the direction of what you were actually looking for!
